Internship Summary
Green Acorn is seeking Mechanical Engineering students who are interested in engineering design to join our team of Summer 2024 Interns. These internships are paid, full-time, in person, and run Mid-May through Mid-August. The internship program is designed to provide students with real engineering design experience and training in typical day-to-day activities as it pertains to engineering in the construction environment. Interns will assist with real projects for real clients and will have the ability to directly impact project outcomes.

The Job
This internship will provide you with a variety of skills. The intern will be learning new software programs, assisting with technical design, and interfacing with clients. The intern will be supported by others in the office but is also expected to work autonomously for specific tasks. The intern will:
Assist with the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for both new construction and renovations of existing buildings.
Survey and generate as-built designs for existing systems.
Model the existing spaces and new designs.
Assist with performing load calculations and flow requirements.
Refine and optimize design processes for the built environment.
Engage with equipment manufacturers to learn about different system types.
Engage with architects to learn about their design processes.
Assist with construction administration tasks.
Education Requirements
We're looking for individuals who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Preferred Skills
Collaborative attitude.
Self-starter.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and can convey information to both technical and general audiences.
Enjoys taking ownership of work.
Can work effectively in small teams and also independently.
